- If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

or sit in the company of mockers. - "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed."
- Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
- He went on: "What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person's heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person."
- Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.
- So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
- For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
- But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people.
- Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
